Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced COBOL Programmer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL development, including experience with mainframe systems, batch processing, and legacy system maintenance. This role involves enhancing and supporting mission-critical applications used across financial, insurance, or government sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL applications on IBM mainframe systems.
Analyze, design, and implement new features based on business requirements.
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in a timely manner.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, Business Analysts, and Project Managers.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and production support.
Document code, system processes, and procedures according to company standards.
Support modernization or migration projects when needed.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in COBOL programming (COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM).
Proficiency in working on IBM z/OS or similar mainframe environments.
Strong understanding of batch processing and file systems.
Experience with DB2 or other mainframe databases.
Familiarity with SDLC methodologies (Agile/Waterfall).
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
