Position: Facilities, Grounds, and Sports Turf Manager
The Facilities, Grounds, and Sports Turf Manager is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance and functionality of all facilities and grounds and related property at the Prospect Meadows Sports Complex. This position oversees complex infrastructure, equipment and ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality operations for all users. This full-time position is classified as exempt, and requires some evening, weekend, and holiday work and a flexible work schedule and reports directly to the President/CEO
Job Responsibilities:
· Manage all athletic and recreational turf, grounds, landscaping, irrigation systems, and native habitats across the Prospect Meadows Sports Complex.
· Oversee maintenance and upkeep of all complex facilities, structures, hardscape areas (parking lots, roads, sidewalks), and infrastructure, ensuring ADA compliance and overall functionality.
· Coordinate routine and seasonal maintenance, janitorial services, waste removal, septic services, and on-site contractors.
· Monitor and manage water systems, including water softeners and required water sampling and reporting in coordination with Linn County Public Health.
· Serve as the Safety Coordinator by implementing safety policies, conducting routine inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a “Safety First” culture among staff.
· Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate maintenance staff and interns; manage payroll reporting and participate in staff meetings.
· Manage equipment inventory, maintenance, repair, replacement cycles, and specialized systems such as electronic scoreboards, signage, banners, and athletic equipment.
· Prepare and manage the annual maintenance and improvement budget in alignment with strategic plans and established standards.
· Support user groups, events, and concessions operations by assisting with facility needs, equipment setup, and maintenance coordination.
· Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the complex.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Associate’s Degree in related field
· 2-5 years of related experience
· Iowa Core and Category Pesticides Licenses obtained with-in 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field
· 5-7 years related experience
· Iowa Core and Category Pesticide Licenses obtained with-in 30 days of employment
· Self- motivated, energetic, creative individual with proven leadership abilities
· Demonstrated planning, organization, supervisory and management skills
Performance Expectations:
· Ability to safely operate and maintain equipment, detect defects, and make minor equipment and facility repairs and adjustments
· Problem solving abilities and ability to make independent judgements
· Ability to function professionally in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
· Knowledge of appropriate policies and procedures related to safe operation of sports complex environment
· Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, Board of Directors, community members, general public, and President/CEO

· High degree of flexibility
· Proficient computer skills
· Ability to support an environment that accepts differences and welcomes people of all backgrounds
Physical Activities/Requirements
· Ability to perform Medium to Heavy work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%), 20 pounds frequently (34-66%) and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
· Must be able to physically perform stooping, bending, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping constantly.
· Position requires kneeling and crawling and outside and indoor activities
· Must be able to tolerate extreme heat and cold working conditions
· Position may be subject to biohazardous materials, chemical waste, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working in high or underground places, varying weather conditions, and atmospheric conditions that could affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, noise, and vibration
Compensation
· $60,000-$70,000 Annually
