Job Description:
Role Summary
- We are seeking a FinOps Dashboard Developer to design, build, and maintain dashboards that deliver actionable insights on cloud cost, usage, optimization opportunities, and budget/forecast performance.
- You will be the bridge between raw billing & usage data, engineering, finance, and business stakeholders-making data understandable, timely, and visual.
- Your work will enable cross-team visibility, help track key FinOps metrics, highlight anomalies, support forecasting, and drive cost / performance trade-offs.
- You'll help elevate the organization's FinOps practice maturity by delivering self-service, rich visualizations and reporting tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Ingest, clean, transform, and enrich cloud billing, usage, license, and carbon/sustainability data; integrate with other business data (e.g. finance, engineering) as needed.
- Define, implement, and maintain dashboards and visual reports for multiple personas (e.g. engineering, finance, product, leadership) to understand cloud spend, utilization, waste, trends, forecasts, and anomalies.
- Work with tagging/metadata strategy to ensure cost allocation is accurate; help ensure tagging compliance and correction logic.
- Create forecasts & variance reporting for cloud spend; surface deviations (budgets vs actuals), highlight overspending, identify optimization opportunities (rightsizing, savings plans / reserved instances, idle resources).
- Build alerting, anomaly detection, and trend monitoring into dashboard/reporting tools.
- Enable self-service reporting where feasible-so teams can slice & dice cost/usage data relevant to them.
- Collaborate closely with FinOps practitioners, engineering (cloud architects, platform teams), finance, procurement, product, and other stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and use cases.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, reliability-manage upstream dependencies (cloud providers, usage APIs, billing exports, etc.).
- Implement best practices for performance of dashboards, scalability, data latency, and maintain documentation of metrics definitions.
- Stay current on cloud billing models, FinOps standards (e.g. FOCUS data spec), emerging practices in cost transparency and cloud sustainability.

Desired Skills & Qualifications Category
- Must-Haves Nice-to-Haves Technical / Tooling Experience with business intelligence / visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Grafana, etc.)

- Hands-on with data engineering tools (Airflow, dbt, Spark, etc.) FinOps / Domain Knowledge Understanding of cloud cost concepts: unit costs, on-demand vs reserved/savings plans, commitments, amortization, rightsizing, utilization, tagging, shared services cost allocation Certifications like FinOps Certified Practitioner, or cloud provider cost-optimization certifications Awareness of FinOps Framework, Reporting & Analytics capabilities; ability to translate usage data into cost stories that drive actions Experience with embedding sustainability / carbon metrics alongside cost & usage data Soft Skills Strong communication skills: ability to present insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders, tell stories with data Experience working in cross-functional teams (engineering, product, finance)
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to translate vague data / requests into well-defined dashboard requirements
- Ability to teach others / build dashboard standards / provide training documentation Operational Excellence Experience ensuring data quality, handling missing/dirty data, metadata/versioning of metrics Monitoring, performance tuning of dashboards and alerting on data freshness / pipeline health
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) / Success Metrics
- Dashboard adoption: percentage of core personas (engineering, finance, product, leadership) using dashboards regularly.
- Cost transparency: % of cloud spend covered by accurate tagging / metadata enabling cost allocation.
- Forecast accuracy: variance between forecasted vs actual cloud spend.
- Anomaly detection responsiveness: number and severity of cost anomalies flagged and remediated.
- Time to insight: how long it takes from data availability (e.g. billing export) to dashboards being updated.
- Efficiency gains: reductions in engineering or finance effort for ad hoc cost/usage analyses thanks to dashboards / self-service.
- Cost savings identified (and realized) via insights delivered through dashboards: rightsizing, reserve purchase, waste elimination, etc.
