Materials Manager | Traverse City, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing carrying costs.
• Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for raw materials and components.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.
• Lead and mentor the materials planning and logistics teams.
• Collaborate with production and sales to align material availability with demand forecasts.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the materials management function.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies related to material handling and storage.

Recommended Qualifications

• Extensive experience in supply chain management, logistics, and procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Plex) for inventory, production planning, and material control.
• Strong analytical and forecasting skills to optimize inventory levels and material flow.
• Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers, manage vendor relationships, and develop strategic sourcing plans.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience in a materials or supply chain function.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Proficiency with advanced data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• APICS CSCP or CPIM certification.
• Experience with specific ERP modules for advanced planning or warehouse management system (WMS) implementations.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
