Job Purpose: The Safety Sr. Specialist applies their scientific and practical knowledge of the Safety compliance field in order to innovate, design, and improve systems, processes, equipment, and tools in their assigned areas to improve the Safety characteristics in alignment with daily operations, new model, business plan, and/or innovation to achieve or exceed targets and promote safety excellence. Key Accountabilities:Lead department Plant themes and complex improvement projects.Proactively cycle Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) to reduce injuries and hazards and ensure continuous improvement of safety characteristics of assigned areasLeverage Safety expertise to support Plants and Department Leaders, production safety advocates and/or safety committees to achieve self-sustaining safety culture and high level of safety performance. Accurately interpret and apply the Honda Safety Management manual including North America ( NA) and Honda Development Manuafacturing America policies and procedures. Participate in Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) of policies and procedures based on technical expertise Perform and document complex safety compliance activity including risk assessments, ergonomic studies, and process and equipment innovation.Detailed presentation and reporting of safety activities and results including complex data analysis and trendingDevelop personal technical expertise and professional skills Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Athletic Training, Health Sciences or other safety and health program or equivalent related experience2+ years of safety experience or equivalent Honda manufacturing experienceAchievement of professional certification such as Advanced Safety Certificate, Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician, Certified Safety Professional, Safety Management Specialist.Interpersonal relationship skillsDetailed understanding of major health and safety regulations and injury/illness prevention strategiesAbility to communicate with all levels of the organizationVerbal and written communication skillsOpen to mentorship guidance for personal skill growthExperience using Microsoft Office productsStrong planning and prioritization skillsAdvanced data analysis and problem-solving skillsComplex understanding of business plans, budgeting and cost reporting.Expertise with root cause analysis and implementation of countermeasures Working Conditions:Open office environmentManufacturing environmentOvertime, holiday and weekend work possible (needs will vary)Able to work varying/rotating shifts for extended periods of time if requested What differentiates Honda and make us an employer of choice?
