Under general supervision, this position officiates various sports leagues, including but not limited to inline hockey and lacrosse.

Officiates assigned specialized sporting events, games, or competitions, with fairness and respect for all players and spectators to maintain standards of play and to enforce all game rules.
Maintains a safe and fun environment for all involved during league play; promotes positive sportsmanship.
Judges performances in sporting competitions in order to award points, impose scoring penalties, and determine results.
Arrives before the start of the scheduled event; starts games on time.
Conducts inspections of sporting equipment, participants, and field conditions to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations.
Verifies game scores with the onsite Sports Supervisor.
Resolves claims of rule infractions or complaints by participants and assesses any necessary penalties; reports complaints made, and actions taken or needed to the Sports Coordinator(s).
Performs Disciplinary actions such as ejections for participants who violate the Town's Behavioral Policies; assists in writing incident reports for injuries and player behavior.
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.
Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Requires three (3) years of experience officiating higher-level, competitive leagues or specialized sport(s) experience as a player, coach, instructor and/or official.
Eighteen (18) years of age is preferred for officiating adult and specialized sports including but not limited to lacrosse and inline hockey.
Sport-specific official and/or coaching certifications are preferred.
Concussion recognition training is required within ninety (90) days of hire and must be renewed annually.

Knowledge of the Town of Parker’s adapted rules and regulations to each specific sport.

Ability to execute and explain proper calls and rule judgment on command.
Ability to accept and respond to criticism.
Ability to manage conflict regularly and effectively. This includes managing participants, team captains, volunteer coaches and spectators under difficult game situations.
Ability to issue clear, concise, verbal and/or written instructions and reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, team participants, community organizations, and the public.
Ability to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Tools & Equipment
Requires use of various sports equipment, scoreboards, whistles, scheduling software, personal automobile, and telephones.
Physical Demands
Requires regular sitting, standing, walking, running, talking, handling, feeling or operating objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Requires occasional reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing, skating. Requires moderate physical activity with moderate lifting, up to twenty (20) pounds. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision. Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be?understood.
Environment
Work is frequently performed outside in varying temperatures and conditions. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and hot and/or cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may range from moderate to extreme. The employee will occasionally encounter fumes, odors, dusts, or mists.
